Our Historical Past

Earliest records show that Old Tennent Cemetery’s history first began in 1708, when it was still known as Old Scots Burying Ground and located in Wickatunk, NJ . Originally located on one-acre of land, now recognized as a National and State Registered Historic Site, Old Tennent Cemetery moved to their new and present location in Manalapan, NJ in 1731.

Shifting their focus in 1910 to welcome individuals of all faiths and beliefs, Old Tennent Cemetery moved away from the church in favor of a non-sectarian resting place . All are welcomed to its beautiful rolling hills and well-kept grounds.
